Neptune

Neptune is the fourth outer planet. It may look like Uranus, but it is much more exciting than the seventh planet. Because it is the eighth planet, it's year 60,190 days.

Springtime on Neptune: Hubble

Neptune is a very windy planet. It's winds can reach 2000 km per hour, the fastest of any planet in the Solar System. The winds are caused by the extraordinarily high temperatures in Neptunes core, which are 7000°C. This is hotter than the surface of the Sun.

Neptune has a dark spot like Jupiter, called the Great Dark Spot. It is a storm the size of the Earth. Unlike Jupiters Great Red Spot, its lifetime is short. It will form and dissipate every few years.

Triton is Neptunes most famous and largest moon. With temperatures reaching as low as -235°C, Triton is the coldest world in our Solar System. It also orbits in the opposite direction that Neptune orbits the Sun.
