Comets

Comets are made up of ice and dust. The center of a comet is called a nucleus and is the only part that is solid. It is made from ice, rock and dust. When a comet comes close to the Sun it begins to melt and dust and gas are released and form a cloud called the coma. The solar wind from the Sun blows the coma away from the comets nucleus and forms a tail. A comets tail never points towards the Sun. Usually a comet has two tails, a white or yellow dust tail and a blue gas tail.

Comet

Comets usually orbit the Sun beyond Pluto in the Kuiper Belt. Hundreds of years ago comets were feared by millions of people all around the world. They believed it was a bad omen, predicting danger in near future. Now many think comets are the most spectacular of all intergalactic sights.
